Description
The Healthy Building Network (HBN) is currently seeking a PHP Web Application Developer, who will help plan, develop, research, code, test and deploy complex Web site projects for the organization's stable of Green Building Web sites with minimal assistance.
HBN is a national network of green building professionals, environmental and health activists, socially responsible investment advocates and others who are interested in promoting healthier building materials as a means of improving public health and preserving the global environment.
Individual will be part of a team that utilizes the Internet and other new media tools to build and mobilize a broad, nationwide movement of individuals and organizations who are working to transform the building materials market in ways that eliminate the most harmful products and expand mainstream commercial markets for healthier materials.
Responsibilities:
* Work with the Technology Director and other staff on evolving plan for the organization's Web sites and Web-based applications.
* Work with the Technology Director and other staff to gather, define, evaluate and document business requirements in order to meet strategic goals and development efforts for Web projects.
* Prototype, design and build graphic user interfaces (GUI's) for advanced Web applications.
* Design, develop and update relational databases as they pertain to Web applications.
* Design, test, debug and implement dynamic Web sites containing cross-browser and cross-operating system compatibility.
* Manage multiple, simultaneous small Web projects with daily schedules while handling larger, long-term projects.
* Estimate time for project milestones, track time, and meet tight deadlines while adhering to user requirements and quality standards.
* Develop, implement and adhere to regular Web site maintenance policies and procedures, including end-user content change request management and posted update/maintenance schedules, to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Candidate must be reliable, dedicated, ambitious and detail oriented and must demonstrate a drive to be at the forefront of Web technologies, as well as a desire to learn and work in a very fast-paced environment. Essential Skills:
This position requires a high degree of analytical intelligence and expert-level knowledge of PHP, MySQL, Javascript, XML, HTML/XHTML, Linux and Apache. The ideal candidate will also have a strong foundation in Object Oriented Programming. Be prepared to demonstrate your complete and thorough knowledge of PHP and MySQL.
Bonus skills include a familiarity with / knowledge of PERL, WikiMedia, AJAX, Ruby on Rails, and Flash ActionScript. Knowledge of Green Building issues also helpful, though not required.
Experienced Required: 2-4 years working in team environments preferred.
Education: The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Salary and Benefits: Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, dental, life insurance, retirement plan and leave time. This is an exempt position.
