Initiated in 1992, CALSTART, in partnership with its participating organizations, has launched over $150 million in technology development and demonstration projects.
CALSTART has been instrumental in building the necessary public-private partnerships to bring promising vehicles, fuels and propulsion systems to the market.
Duties
WestStart-CALSTART (CALSTART) has an immediate opening for an associate level position, serving as a Project Manager to lead a number of exciting initiatives to support the development and commercialization of clean and energy efficient transportation technologies.
- A significant portion of this job will be to lead and oversee the CALSTART Participant Services program, whereby valued added services are provided to CALSTARTs diverse base of 115 organizations.
- The program manager will also be expected to lead and participate in the management of other leading edge CALSTART projects.
- The Participant Services program is key to CALSTARTs success.
- Through this program, CALSTART provides services to its interesting and dynamic 115 participating organizations.
- The organizations range from General Motors to Mack Truck to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan District to Enova Systems.
- The Participant Services Program Manager will be responsible for recruiting and overseeing the delivery of services to the WestStart participating organizations.
- Administer CALSTARTs existing Participant Services Program including invoicing, tracking progress and assessing program status, target assessment and retention
- Recruit new and grow the overall number of CALSTART participants, including setting growth goals and strategies
- Prepare Communications materials such as newsletters, and FYIs to keep participants aware of significant industry opportunities
- Manage, oversee and administer special activities/events such as the Blue Sky Awards and Advisory Committees
- Manage the CALSTART Clean Car Maps program, the leading on-line source of information for a wide variety of alternative fuels in the Western U.S.
- Apply high levels of project management discipline in the areas of planning, budgeting, cost tracking, quality and scheduling to all projects and;
- Provide a variety of support functions to other project managers including event planning, industry outreach and preparation of marketing materials
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable with one-on one client meetings, highly professional in appearance, and capable of managing sensitive business relationships.
- The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in the transportation or clean fuels industries.
- S/he will have strong inter-personal and organizational skills.
- S/he will also be able to demonstrate a strong comfort level when dealing with technologies and technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills, including both verbal and written, are essential.
- Some travel may be required.
- Last but not least, the candidate must have a passion for this emerging industry and to demonstrate high levels of commitment, persistence and personal initiative.
- The following skills and experience will be viewed favorably but are not required for the position:
- Sales and customer service experience
- Expertise or familiarity with clean fuels and efficient propulsion systems or at least a demonstrated interested in environmental technologies
- Track record of working with diverse industry and government stakeholders
- Knowledge of Client/Contact Databases, Excel and Powerpoint
- Experience with managing and updating websites (see www.cleancarmaps.org)
