Description
Westchester Land Trust works with private landowners, officials and community groups to protect open space and promote responsible land use throughout Westchester County, New York.
Our office is in Bedford Hills, forty miles north of midtown Manhattan. Since its incorporation in 1988, WLT has helped to protect over 2,800 acres, including over 750 acres in the past year.
To help increase the pace of land conservation throughout Westchester, WLT has created the new position of Outreach Coordinator.
The Outreach Coordinator will create and implement new strategies for making contact with potential donors of land or conservation easements (which are agreements to preserve land that will remain in private ownership).
Outreach efforts shall be directed both towards landowners themselves and other persons who can help establish connections with landowners, such as current WLT supporters or land donors, as well as local civic and preservation organizations, real estate professionals, and public officials.
The successful candidate
- will havea Bachelors degree and four to six years of progressively increasing professional responsibility, a substantial portion of which is in communications, marketing, fundraising or related fields.
- He or she will also have strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
- fluency with database and spreadsheet programs;
- outstanding organizational capabilities; and,
- a proven track record of success in an outreach or related capacity.
The Outreach Coordinator will work for WLT's Executive Director and will also work closely with the Land Trust's Director of Land Preservation and Board of Directors.
The position is full time, and will require flexibility as to hours of employment, to facilitate contact with landowners and others who may not be available during normal business hours.
