YMCA Camp Eberhart continues to evolve and lead the way in providing experiences and skills that last a lifetime. ~ 

Situated on 200 wooded acres with over a mile of shoreline on Corey Lake, YMCA Camp Eberhart is five miles west of Three Rivers in southwest lower Michigan. Though Summer Camp is our oldest and most popular program, YMCA Camp Eberhart offers a variety of specialty camps year-round including our very popular Family Camps, Fall Color Tours, Holiday Camps, retreats and much more. 

Position Overview

Come join our team for the spring season as an Outdoor Education Instructor at YMCA Camp Eberhart. We are located in beautiful SW Michigan very close to Kalamazoo, MI and South Bend, IN. We are seeking individuals for hands-on, field positions that involve teaching and leading groups of students in outdoor, environmental and recreational activities.

Responsibilities 

  • Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
  • Teach high quality educational programs to school and community groups about nature (wildlife, ecology and other outdoor sciences) as well as recreational activities (rock climbing, canoeing, archery and horse trail rides).
  • Lead evening activities: campfires, field games, large group activities, etc.
  • Engage visitors in songs, games, group fillers, or discussions between classes and during other break times.
  • Organize, set-up and tear down program areas which you oversee.
  • Maintain the organization of equipment and classroom materials with high standards.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and professionalism when working closely with other staff members.
  • Assist housekeeping and maintenance staff with maintaining a clean camp-including camp grounds and buildings. 

Qualifications 

  • Be up to date and knowledgeable all safety and security guidelines set out by YMCA Camp Eberhart and the American Camping Association. 

Compensation: $50-$75 per day (depending on experience), plus housing, room and board Dental, 403(b), 9% YMCA Retirement Plan Contribution (when eligible), YMCA Membership. Dates of employment: March 14 - June 8, 2016.
