Description
~ Nuhop has a lot to offer. The Outdoor Education program integrates state and district standards into our curriculum provides an exceptional balance between experiential, outdoor and environmental education philosophies. ~
A traditional, week-long Summer Camp has a variety of programs centered around different age groups, as well as an agenda specially prepared for children with learning disabilities.
Team Building activities focused on high schools, teachers and collegiate organizations build respect and self-esteem while enjoying the outdoors.
Position Overview
Seasonal positions are available for the spring and fall seasons. Spring season begins mid-March and runs through the end of May. Fall season begins in September and runs until mid-November.
Responsibilities
- Teaching one to two hour classes on subjects such as: geology, ecology, forestry, canoeing, compass/orienteering, team building activities and high ropes course
- Leading three to four mile hikes
- Occasional night hikes and overnight responsibilities in cabins (for individuals only looking for part time, this would not have to include overnights)
Qualifications
Qualified Individuals will have:
- Experience working with youth and working in the out-of-doors
- Preferred, but not required: bachelor's degree in education, outdoor education, environmental sciences, or related field
- Current FBI/BCI Background Check, or be willing to acquire one
- Ability to stand/walk/hike for two to three hours at a time
- Ability to direct and supervise others with professionalism and respect
