Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fundseek an experienced organizer and manager to lead our Colorado organization. Depending on qualifications, this same individual could also have responsibility in additional Western states. Located in Denver.
Clean Water Action is a national citizens' organization working for clean, safe and affordable water, prevention of health-threatening pollution, election of pro-environment candidates, and empowerment of people to make democracy work. CWA organizes strong grassroots coalitions in 27 offices around the country. Clean Water Fund is a national research and education organization that promotes the public interest on water and public health issues. CWA and Clean Water Fund work together on campaigns and programs at the local, state and federal level.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and oversee programs and campaigns. Provide direction to local and state campaigns. Work in partnership with national staff to implement local and state elements of national campaigns and programs. Hire, train, supervise and develop program, fundraising, and administrative staff. Develop and implement fundraising plans with national development dept. Provide program direction and support for field and phone canvass staff. Recruit and work with volunteer leaders, guide and advance Clean Water's work, including advisory committees, campaign committees. Represent Clean Water in work with other organizations, public officials, media.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to provide strategic leadership to build and direct the organization and its programs. Extensive experience in role as senior manager or organizer with an environmental or other non-profit organization. This could include experience as an Executive Director or Associate Director, Organizing Director, Campaign Manager, Development Director. Proven ability to supervise and develop staff, volunteers, and non-staff leadership (e.g. board of directors). Experience with issues and electoral campaigns. Experience with environmental issues highly desirable. Successful fundraising experience with foundations, major donors, and events. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and computer literacy.
OTHER INFORMATION:
Regular travel throughout Colorado (to other states if Regional Director) and to national gatherings. Salary Based on Experience. Attractive benefits package. Start Date no later than March 2005. Application Deadline: Open until filled.
