Our mission is to connect people to the land.

Land's Sake combines ecologically-sound land management practices with hands-on environmental education to model how public open space can be used and enjoyed by the community.

As a 501c3 nonprofit corporation, we run a public farm, host educational programming for all ages, maintain the town forest for recreational and production uses, and care for both public conservation and private land.

Position Overview:

Land's Sake has an immediate opportunity to join our team as our part-time Operations Assistant. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Operations Assistant will be responsible for ensuring that a wide range of projects and initiatives are performed on schedule and on budget. 

Responsibilities:

Projects this position may address include:

  • Event preparations, development assistance, or administrative work.
  • Website or online interface management.
  • Coordination with others across the organization.
  • Managing relationships with outside volunteers or project contractors.
  • Hands-on project problem-solving tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Strong candidates for this position will have a positive, can-do attitude, the ability to work independently yet know when to coordinate and update others, and an ability to work with a wide range of people.
  • They will have demonstrated professional experiences that required integration of many pieces of information to get projects completed.
  • Experience managing people, coordinating teams, or supporting initiatives will provide good basis for success in this position.
  • Basic computer skills are required (Apple Mac or Microsoft Windows Operating System and Office Suite: Word/Excel/Powerpoint), and familiarity with website or database management is highly valued.
  • Experience with farming, environmental education, or land stewardship will help, but is not essential for success in this position.
  • The job may require occasional physical labor, lifting and carrying, or other physical tasks.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary for this position.
  • Successful candidates must be able to pass a background check.

Skills necessary:

  • Good professional judgment.
  • Resourceful problem solving.
  • Attention to detail & ability to manage multiple priorities at a time while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Website or database management or expertise a plus.

Complementary skills and experience:

  • Experience with small-budget marketing and communications.
  • Experience with development, fundraising, or grant management.
  • Project and financial management experience a plus.
  • Experience working on a farm, familiarity with power tools, or managing small engine equipment a bonus.

Compensation: Hourly wage is negotiable, commensurate with experience. Hours may vary depending on project load and schedule.

Candidates should expect to commit to 20 hrs per week, with occasional increases as necessary.
