Online Communications Production Associate

Overall Function: Environmental Defense, a pioneer in online activism, has a large and successful online activism program that uses the Internet to help hundreds of thousands of people take action to protect the environment. 

As our online work grows more targeted and sophisticated, we are filling a new position of Online Activism Associate in our New York office. This position will focus on producing email and online advocacy campaigns, and might include related work on our Web sites. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in developing their campaign management skills or online production skills. 

Key Responsibilities 

Produce email and web-based action alerts, emails and newsletters;
Assist in producing other online content;
Facilitate the review and testing of message and content between multiple parties;
Assist in identifying and editing images for use in emails and on the Web;
Assist in the archiving of creative assets for reuse and repurposing;
Respond to high volumes of user email inquiries;
Coordinate closely with rest of Internet team to plan and execute campaigns.

Qualifications

2 years relevant online production experience
History of quickly mastering complex production tools;
Ability to perform detailed work with meticulous accuracy;
Strong time management and organization skills;
Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively on a close-knit team.
Proficiency in HTML, PhotoShop and standard office applications; 

Preferred candidates will have: 

-- Experience in environmental or similar activism field;
-- Excellent writer, especially in super-short formats;
-- Solid foundation in online design principles and good sense for effective image selection;
-- Strong understanding of the principles of designing effective tests and experiments.
