The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a non-profit national environmental advocacy organization with more than 1.2 million members and online activists. We have offices in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Beijing. Our staff of 350 includes lawyers, scientists, policy analysts and educators working to protect the environment and public health.
Position Overview:
NRDC is seeking a Foundations Grant Writer for the Development Department in its New York office. The ideal candidate will be one with a commitment to environmental advocacy and who has experience working for a high-volume foundations department.
Responsibilities:
- Writes proposals and detailed progress reports
- Prepares project budgets and compiles financial information
- Conducts research
- Develops briefing documents
- Assimilates information about NRDC programs from a variety of sources in order to develop persuasive documents
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Must have 2 years or more proposal writing experience
- Candidates must be able to prepare excel budgets and expense reports
- Candidates must be able to work independently and under deadlines
- Superior analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills, displaying precision and attention to detail
- Windows and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, Access and overall database software proficiency
