The R20: Regions of Climate Action, a non-profit organization working with subnational governments (states/regions) to implement low-carbon economic development projects, seeks part-time Interns this summer to support a variety of organizational activities.

Responsibilities: 

Under the direction of R20 staff, the R20 Interns will provide general research and project support to the R20.  Some potential projects include:

  • Working with a consultant to improve the R20's contact management system
  • Assisting with the R20's Monthly Newsletter research and preparation
  • Conducting research on potential R20 Members (subnational governments)
  • Conducting research on GHG inventory reporting initiatives
  • Conducting research on low-carbon project best practices
  • Supporting the Subnational Climate Reporting Program
  • Providing administrative support to R20 staff and Committees
  • Working with staff to enhance the organization's website and communications materials
  • Various other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The successful applicants will have:

  • An interest in working in and learning about the environmental, energy, climate change, sustainable development, and clean technology fields
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Exceptional research skills
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  • A proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint);
  • A professional demeanor
  • Ability to work independently
  • U.S. citizenship

Compensation:  Internships are available from Mid-May through August or September, 2012, depending on the individuals' availability.  Interns will dedicate between 10-15 hours a week to the internship.  The internships are unpaid.

Location:  Interns will work in the R20's US office located in Santa Monica, CA.
