Description
The R20: Regions of Climate Action, a non-profit organization working with subnational governments (states/regions) to implement low-carbon economic development projects, seeks part-time Interns this summer to support a variety of organizational activities.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of R20 staff, the R20 Interns will provide general research and project support to the R20. Some potential projects include:
- Working with a consultant to improve the R20's contact management system
- Assisting with the R20's Monthly Newsletter research and preparation
- Conducting research on potential R20 Members (subnational governments)
- Conducting research on GHG inventory reporting initiatives
- Conducting research on low-carbon project best practices
- Supporting the Subnational Climate Reporting Program
- Providing administrative support to R20 staff and Committees
- Working with staff to enhance the organization's website and communications materials
- Various other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The successful applicants will have:
- An interest in working in and learning about the environmental, energy, climate change, sustainable development, and clean technology fields
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Exceptional research skills
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
- A proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint);
- A professional demeanor
- Ability to work independently
- U.S. citizenship
Compensation: Internships are available from Mid-May through August or September, 2012, depending on the individuals' availability. Interns will dedicate between 10-15 hours a week to the internship. The internships are unpaid.
Location: Interns will work in the R20's US office located in Santa Monica, CA.
