Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary is operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks. Established in 1985, the Sanctuary is the largest park in the system and it includes one of the largest freshwater tidal wetlands on the East Coast. The Sanctuary is managed so visitors can enjoy, appreciate, and learn about the peaceful, quiet environment and the expansive wetlands.
Position Overview:
The Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in Lothian, Maryland, has an opening for a part time naturalist. The naturalist will teach, lead nature programs for the public, work with volunteers, assist with research projects and interact with visitors in our Wetlands Center.
Our education program consists of school season activities and field trips for elementary through college age groups. On weekends there are programs for families, groups and volunteers. To read much more about this program, please visit our web site.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a BS or BA in biology, botany, zoology, natural resources, wildlife management or a similar area. 1 to 2 years of teaching experience is a definite plus. Ability to paddle a canoe and to work outside in hot, humid or cold weather. Must have a valid driver's license.
Compensation: Work schedule is Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays (32 hrs/week). Starting pay rate is $12.30/hour. This position is open until it is filled.
