Description
Duties:
Plan, organize, and facilitate environmental education programs and special events
at Peck Farm Park (a 378-acre nature preserve with active and passive
recreational opportunities) with an emphasis in cultural and natural history for
individuals and groups of all ages, including school, scout, and birthday party groups,
families, preschoolers, summer camps, and adults. Create and maintain exhibits and
displays. Assist with Butterfly House operations and volunteer program. Care for
captive educational animals. Assist with natural areas maintenance. General
maintenance of Peck House and office duties.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Environmental Education, Natural Resources, Biological
Sciences or Teaching. 1-3 years of experience leading natural history,
interpretative, and environmental education programs. Familiarity with principles
and techniques of interpretation and environmental education curricula. Excellent
communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience with public speaking.
Enthusiasm, reliability, ability to take initiative and flexible schedule required.
Experience handling and caring for captive animals, such as fish, amphibians,
reptiles, and invertebrates.
Compensation:
The salary range for this full-time position is $28,000 - $32,000 annually, with
benefits.
Hours:
Schedule will fluctuate with season, program and/or office needs. Due to the
nature of the work, evening, weekend, and holiday hours are required. Regular
hours are:
Tuesday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Saturday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
The anticipated starting date is Tuesday, July 8, 2003.
