Position Overview

Mortenson Energy Services (MES) has the job for you! Responsibilities

Technician is responsible for day to day operations at the direction of onsite leadership with guidance from more experienced technicians. Personnel will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Field roles and responsibilities:

    • Act as a team member to support site work
      • Will be required to perform field work onsite focusing on Safety, Quality, and Efficiency
    • Perform inspections and reporting as required by contract
    • Perform solar plant scheduled and unscheduled maintenance primarily on inverters and trackers
      • Strong focus on safety, quality, and documentation of work performed
      • Following work instructions, check sheets, and schematics
    • Conduct periodic inspections, assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs
      • Photovoltaic panels, collectors and associated components
      • Site substations, T-lines, and medium voltage interconnect.
      • Site roads, paths, warehouse, vehicles, tools, and equipment
      • Vegetation control over a large facility
    • Inspect and operate site mobile equipment and vehicles
      • Required to perform pre-use and periodic inspections
      • Focus on keeping equipment clean and in good working order
    • Willing to work after hours and weekend on call as site conditions require
    • Interact with local community and landowners in a professional and positive manner
    • Operate under properly performed LOTO conditions
    • May be required to perform LOTO of equipment as an Authorized Person
    • Conduct daily safety and task planning discussions
    • May be required to conduct Pre-task planning, JHA’s, and RA’s
    • Interact with vendors and customers in a professional manner
    • Ability to recognize potential issues and provide safe solutions
      • May be required to provide feedback to Safety and Quality for business improvements

Qualifications

Experience:

    • Direct work experience in a service or maintenance role is preferred
    • Indirectly related experience will be evaluated; 2 - 5 years’ experience preferred. 
    • Medium and high voltage experience a plus
    • Post-secondary education is a PLUS!

Personnel will be required to have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    • Attention to detail and safety focused
    • Electrical aptitude
    • Renewable energy experience desired, but NOT required
    • Responsibility for own transportation to and from work required
    • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
    • Authorized to work in the United States
    • Self-motivated with high level of integrity
    • Some travel may be required
    • Prolong standing / and working in ergonomic challenging positions
    • Varied climates based upon location
    • Physically fit for solar field operations and maintenance
    • Teamwork and communication skills
    • Proficient in English based upon supporting EHS internal and external requirements

Education and Certifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED is required
  • Additional post High School education is preferred
  • Electrical certifications a PLUS!
