We offer the tools to question and explore our world: interactive science exhibits, hands-on and explorative school and public programs, and up close encounters with native California animals.

Position Overview:

The Membership Manager is responsible for executing CuriOdyssey's membership program to achieve highly aggressive revenue goals and provide exceptional member service. The Membership Manager reports to the Director of Advancement.

Responsibilities

Membership Marketing:

  • Develop and execute a year-round membership marketing plan that incorporates promotions, renewals, on-site sales, online opportunities, and direct mail.
  • Execute regular renewal, lapsed, and upgrade mailings.
  • Work with contractors/vendors to conceptualize, draft, and oversee production annual or bi-annual direct mail projects.
  • Identify and execute new membership streams (e.g., corporate membership)
  • Manage on-site membership sales campaigns, including personal sales of memberships.
  • Develop signage to promote membership throughout the museum.
  • Train all staff, with a particular emphasis on guest service staff, on the value, benefit, and sales of membership.
  • Develop attractive new membership benefits as needed.

Membership Fulfillment:

  • Process, acknowledge, and record all memberships in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage inventory of all membership supplies including membership cards, stationery and brochures.

Member Service:

  • Develop and execute a year-round member service plan that includes special events (e.g. exhibit openings), appreciation opportunities, and other creative approaches to member service.
  • Respond promptly and with exceptional customer service to member phone calls and emails.
  • Manage the production of the member newsletter.
  • Execute regular member surveys.
  • Organize and supervise all membership events.

Membership Administration:

  • Analyze and report on membership performance and trends and recommend changes as needed.
  • Provide regular financial reports for accounting reconciliation and performance tracking.
  • Train and manage volunteers and/or temporary data entry administrators as needed.
  • Generate mailing lists for member mailings.
  • Find appropriate volunteer support to execute the membership program.
  • Work with the Advancement team to implement a unified solicitation strategy that moves members into the donor base.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred (or an Associate's Degree and equivalent experience)
  • Experience working in a sales environment and/or demonstrated ability to meet sales/revenue goals
  • High level of comfort with a variety of software packages
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) required
  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge or fundraising databases preferred (FilemakerPro, GiftmakerPro, DonorPerfect, Raiser's Edge, etc.)
  • Graphic design experience a plus
  • Prior proven experience with data accuracy
  • Excellent phone manner and ability to deal with members in a personable, patient, effective, and courteous manner
  • Excellent writing skills and rigorous attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial non-profit environment
  • Comfort and affinity for a creative, solution-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated aptitude for data-oriented analysis, tracking, and production
Compensation: Salary range (annual, U.S. $) 38,000 - 42,000
