The Conservancy of Southwest Florida was founded in 1964 by a small group of concerned citizens fighting to protect the beauty of our region. Today it has grown to be one of Florida's largest and most respected environmental organizations.

Position Overview: 

The Membership Manager develops and manages all forms of membership and special appeals including acquisition and renewals, memorials and honorariums.

Responsibilities:

During the next two fiscal years 2011 and 2012, the manager will be responsible for generating revenue of $400k + in membership support and an additional $400k+ from annual giving. The 3 chief priorities of the positions are to:

  1. Designand implement:
    -Membership program using wide variety of acquisition tools and techniques
    -Membership renewal strategies
    -Fundraising appeals to convert members to donors
  2. Create and maintain stewardship program for members to deepen their relationship to the Conservancy
  3. Manage existing annual fund programs (non major gifts) and revisit for potential changes in the future

Other Key Duties Include:

  1. Oversee all membership records and related services
  2. Work with appropriate departments in:
    -Developing and implementing strategy to aggressively increase membership numbers
    -Developing outreach opportunities and expansion of memberships through existing activities
    -Exploration and development of web based strategies for the increase of membership numbers
  3. Develop, implement and manage membership and related programs designed to deepen support from current members and donors.
  4. Foster a welcoming environment at the Nature Center for members, guests and the general public

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in managing high performing annual fund, membership or related comprehensive fundraising program with a Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing membership and donor renewal programs. Preferable in conjunction with public/non-profit facility.
  • Demonstrated success in growing annual fund or membership program that represents increase in total support, participating numbers and average gift amounts.
  • Experience in building and leading cross departmental teams of staff and volunteers representing successful results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications; knowledge of Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising software a plus as well as experience with conducting database queries.   
  • Experience working in a supervisory capacity preferred.
  • Excellence in the areas of communications, customer service, presentation skills, budgeting, time management, multi-tasking, interpersonal skills and creativity.
