Description
The Membership Manager is responsible for the smooth delivery of all aspects of the membership program including staff performance. Plans, implements and evaluates projects and marketing strategies, prepares reports, sets revenue goals and expense budget, oversees Member Nights and special events, recommends new and improved programs, systems and benefits.
Responsible for the supervision of two Senior Membership Assistants and five Membership Assistants. The manager works with aquarium staff to implement and evaluate onsite acquisition efforts, program benefits and keeps Member Desk and Entrance staff current on department activities. Also provides direction for other aquarium departments that provide programs for or serve aquarium members.
Manages all aspects of the membership operation including acquisition, renewal, retention, surveys, acknowledgments, fulfillment, and all benefits including Member Nights, special events and exhibit previews.
Coordinates and prepares copy for onsite, direct mail and web site acquisition efforts; mailings, e-mail communications to members, and other print materials. Prepares and proofs membership copy for Shorelines member magazine. Manages web site acquisitions, renewal and contribution transactions and fulfillment; and e-mail communications to promote programs and online renewals.
Serves as a resource for the Manager of Guest Experience/Greet Center and Manager of Guest Experience Operations in meeting onsite membership sales goals and maintaining high standards of customer service at the Member Desk and Entrance. Provides training as appropriate. Keeps staff informed on department changes and upcoming activities.
Meets or exceeds revenue goals. Prepares the membership annual budget, marketing plan, timeline and manages expenses within acceptable cost percentage standards.
Supervises seven administrative support staff, conducts interviews, training, coaching and performance feedback.
Qualifications
Four-year college degree and a minimum three years experience working in a non-profit, preferably with membership, development or marketing environment. Minimum two years of supervisory experience and experienced in program delivery, evaluation, planning and budgeting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven customer service track record.
