Description
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work first hand with Congress, national and local media, as well as national and regional conservation organizations. The Network is a coalition of over 150 national, regional, and local environmental organizations: recreational and commercial fishing groups: aquariums: and marine science groups dedicated to marine fish conservation and committed to long-term reform of the U.S. fish management.
Duties:
The media Coordinator will be responsible to the Network's Executive Director and will work in close cooperation with its Executive Committee and Board of Advisors.
The Coordinator will assist the Executive Director in:
- arranging press events
- generating national and regional press releases
- drafting letters to the editor and op-eds on national and regional fisheries issues
- coordinating media activities among Network member organizations
- maintaining a media database and clippings library
- planning and conducting new media strategies, involving video, radio, or public service announcements
Qualifications:
- Candidate must have at least a BA/BS in journalism, communications, political science, environmental science, or a related field
- One to three years experience in media relations is required
- Experience in environmental or biological science is strongly preferred
