Position Overview: 

We are seeking Mechanical Engineers/HVAC Engineer with at least 10 years experience, BSME or equivalent degree, and P.E. license with experience in facility design (HVAC & plumbing systems) and energy analysis, for a position with opportunity for growth and progressive responsibility. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of HVAC systems in the areas of building operation, energy use and analysis. A background in electrical engineering is ideal.

Critical thinking ability and mechanical aptitude, as well as communication skills and technical expertise and proficiency are key attributes, as this position involves complete system engineering and design, from concept to commissioning, as part of a multi-discipline team.

This position requires the ability to handle projects from concept to completion, including continuous interface with clients and with the design team. Provide peer reviews of drawings prepared by others. Well organized and detail oriented. Proactive and forward thinking skills.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, and have good verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability. Know project schedules and deadlines. Maintain communication with team leaders. Conduct training and seminars for both internal and external clients. Assist in recruiting and interviewing potential engineering candidates.

Responsibilities: 

Functions include conducting studies, troubleshooting, energy audits, project reviews, energy database management, energy procurement, life cycle cost studies, energy modeling and analysis.

Research, design, and implement high performance sustainable elements into projects. Evaluate building energy performance via on-site field measurement and energy analysis methods. Willingness to learn with interest in researching new technology and applying it to the practice

Develop energy efficiency measures such as system optimization sequencing or reset schedule. Review sequence of operation and control logic for pneumatic, electric, and/or DDC systems.

Develop detailed work scopes for modification, trouble-shooting, testing, repair, calibration, and operation of HVAC systems. Develop engineering studies and options for various systems.

This job interacts and advises Engineers, Maintenance Supervisors, and Physical Plant Managers, and Directors on the above issues. Provide technical support to team members and build relationships with industry partners. 

Qualifications: 

Highly creative problem solver with strong engineering and data analysis skills. Excellent interpersonal and leadership qualities with management skills including the ability and desire to lead a team, along with the persistence and drive to maintain progress

Knowledge of HVAC systems and hourly energy program such as DOE2,Carrier HAP, Trane Trace is a plus as well as an understanding of green buildings in general, Energy Star, and the LEED scoring system. Understanding of engineering optimization principles. USGBC LEED Accreditation preferred.

Proven design experience and technical expertise on building mechanical systems, including building automation systems, operation and maintenance, and energy related matters including planning, management and conservation.

Knowledge of US building codes required, including IBC, IMC, NEC, IESNA, IEEE, NFPA and Life Safety Measures.

Must be experienced with HVAC design programs. AutoCAD experience preferred. MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Visio experience required.

Experience in building commissioning and HVAC control optimization. Knowledge and expertise in HVAC control systems (Legacy, BACnet, Lon, Ethernet TCP/IP, etc.) is a major plus. 

Travel varies respective to engineering position.
