Position Overview
Want to join the innovative marketing team of the world’s most trusted green building publisher?
BuildingGreen is hiring a key marketing position at either an assistant or coordinator level.
This person would be an essential team member for all things we do related to marketing and for staying in touch with our loyal readers and reaching those who haven’t heard about us yet.
Responsibilities
The position will entail:
Campaign development and management
- Set up lead-generation, acquisition and renewal campaigns.
- Update marketing content for the company websites and email campaigns.
- Update the company’s Twitter and Pinterest accounts.
- Manage pay-per-click campaigns
Results tracking
- Set up tracking for marketing efforts and share the results internally.
- Prepare marketing and Web analytics statistics.
Administrative support
- Support primary and secondary market research efforts.
- Provide backup to sales manager in communicating with clients.
Qualifications
Skills and attributes essential to success in the position:
- Strong commitment to getting details right in both proofreading copy and data input and management.
- Ability to master new software as company's marketing and ecommerce systems evolve.
- Strong relationship-building and clear verbal communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of marketing principles and a commitment to the highest and most-effective standards.
- Comfort with Internet applications (i.e. content management systems and Web applications like MailChimp or SurveyMonkey)
If you don't already use this software, plan on learning it quickly:
- Ubercart at first, then Drupal Commerce
- MailChimp
- Woopra and Google Analytics
- SurveyMonkey
- Google cloud apps and Microsoft office suite, especially Excel
The following skills are desirable but not essential:
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Ability to collect marketing data, identify problems and opportunities, and draw valid conclusions.
- Knowledge of Internet search and SEO.
- Ability to identify sales prospects.
- Ability to switch back and forth between "data mode" and "creative mode," as a particular task requires, including spotting trends and elegant solutions while carrying out specific tasks.

More details:
- Full time (40 hours) work; typically 9 to 5 but with some flexibility if needed.
- Salary commensurate with skills and experience

- Location: our office is in the outdoorsy, college-y, worldly, farmers’ market-y, literary mid-sized town of Brattleboro, Vermont.
- Remote work: possible for the right candidate, particularly with regular visits to our office, but we strongly prefer onsite collaboration.
- Atmosphere: Our office is professional yet casual. We’ve hosted meetings with congressmen and major NGOs, but you’ll also see bare feet and dogs.
- Team: We have about 15 full-time staff.
