Position Overview:

As the Manager - Residential Energy Efficient Program you will supervise and manage the company activities related to the operations and sales activities of energy efficiency services and products with the objective of supporting the growth of the CleanSteps Conserve family of services and products to residential customers.  This position reports to the Manager, Renewable Energy and Conservation Programs. You will work in collaboration with WGES' customer service, marketing and sales departments as well as the home energy review contractors and energy efficiency home improvement contractors network.  

Responsibilities: 

In this integral role you will:

  • Support the continued growth and development of a newly introduced product for residential customers, "CleanStepsSM Conserve".  The product/ service life cycle of CleanStepsSM Conserve includes a Home Energy Review, a report to customers, referrals to a network of energy efficiency home improvement contractors and the sales of energy conservation products.
  • Coordinate the operations related to CleanStepsSM Conserve. Manage product/service sourcing and delivery capabilities, either in-house or contracted.  This involves activities from Home Energy Review (H.E.R.) to delivery of the (H.E.R.) report, to the operational management & coordination of the Home Energy Review Contractor Referral network, to the sale of energy efficiency / conservation products. It does involve field coordination management. Assure optimal quality including evaluation, certification and quality assurance of contractors.
  • Support activities to deliver optimal pricing and quality of CleanSteps Conserve services and products, including vendor management and related contracts.
  • Coordinate and support activities related to improvement of data acquisition and analytics software of the H.E.R.
  • Support the Renewable Energy and Conservation Programs Manager in the identification of strategies for maximizing customer and product growth and retention, sales volume growth, and profitability for the family of product/ services linked to CleanStepsSM Conserve.  
  • Provide input in the development and production of communications to customers including the content of written materials.  Coordinate with Customer Care functions to support customer scripting and questions on the product. Assure the accuracy of communications pertaining to energy efficiency and conservation, and maintain documentation in support of claims.
  • Provide input for CleanSteps Conserve SM to Renewable Energy and Conservation Program business and budget planning & budget tracking, and any other internal / external reporting.
  • Support, as needed, the Head of Renewable Energy and Conservation Program on the policy / legislative issues related to Energy Efficiency and Conservation.

Qualifications: 

To be successful in this position you will need to have:

  • BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy Management, or other technical/scientific college degree.    
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant work experience with at least 5 years directly supporting energy efficiency or conservation programs and/or products.  Masters Degree will be accepted in lieu of 2 years experience 
  • Experience to include a minimum of 3 years working with or supervising contractors preferably for residential improvement projects. Knowledge and/or experience in insulation duct or air sealing contracting business is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated capability in building and maintaining relationships with key market players in the residential home energy improvement market sector,
  • Knowledge and/or experience in whole house energy improvements preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise and certification in Field Energy Audits (e.g. BPI) and/or energy software packages.
  • The ability to travel within the WGES geographical footprint (VA, DC, MD, and DE).
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical and technical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member, as well as independently. 
  • Ability to be creative while performing in a fast paced work environment. High-energy and attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and firm knowledge of MS Software applications. Knowledge of web base tools (mass email creation, blog, web page support) is a plus.   
  • Proficiency in emerging Energy conservation and management technologies and products, is a plus. 
  • Understanding of the "small business" and/or "commercial energy conservation" sector is a plus.
  • Experience working in a sales and marketing environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy and carbon offset sectors is an asset.
