Position Overview:
The Manager of PV System Design will liaise with third party stakeholders and customers as well as internal Meridian ("MES") sales, finance and projects staff to specify PV system designs for systems ranging from 10kW to 2MW.
The Senior PV System designer will generate system designs employing software (CAD) and other tools, as well as specify key components and hardware for designs so they may be submitted for engineering review and can serve as a basis for both the sales team and installation crews. PV System Designer will have management responsibility for entry-level system designers and CAD operators.

- Roof Plan Layouts
- Site Plan Layouts
- Elevations
2. Electrical Schematics
- One-Line Diagrams
- Balance of Systems wall plans/elevations
3. Structural and Attachment Details
- Roof Mounted Systems
- Self-Ballasted Systems
- Pole Mounted Systems
- Ground Mounted Systems
The Manager of PV Systems Design will support the Commercial Sales Team for jobs ranging in size from 10kW - 2MW as well as providing design consultation to Meridian's Project Installation Teams. Direct duties are to provide:
- PV Array Layouts for the Sales Team
- Permit drawings, interconnection documents, plan sets, and as-builts for the Project Installation Teams
- Generate detailed bill of materials for Sales & Projects
Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning:
- Drive large-scale system designs from conception to installation
- Evaluate and recommend system designs providing optimum aesthetic, performance and price in accordance with customer goals and expectations
- Liaise and coordinate project planning and intergration
- Recommend strategies for document management as it relates to CAD outputs, including collection and revision
- Recommend and/or develop a comprehensive naming and archiving scheme for storing and retrieving CAD drawings
Operational Management:
- Liaise with third party stakeholders (including General Contractors, architects, engineers, clients, etc...) to develop comprehensive PV system designs
- Produce CAD models by collaborating with product designers, technicians, engineers, and other manufacturing professionals
- 3-Dimensional modeling and rendering skills would be welcome, but not required
- Follow established CAD standards in regards to layering, dimensioning, text annotations, and other aspects of CAD usage
- Review existing CAD drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards
- Edit, rework, and update CAD drawing files as required by product changes, modifications, additions, and so on
- Proofread and correct documentation errors from junior PV system designers
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Formal Education & Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architectural design, or computer sicence, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- 2 - 4 years equivalent work experience as a CAD operator, drafter, or technician
- NABCEP Certification
- Electrical Engineering degree preferred
Knowledge & Experience:
- 3 - 5 years of PV system design experience
- At least 2 years direct experience operating and programming CAD applications (i.e. AutoCAD, AutoCADLT)
- Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code
- Strong knowledge of system and CAD software quality assurance best practices and methodologies
- Strong knowledge of architectural drafting standards, as well as blueprint and specification reading skills
- Outstanding technical translation skills
- Excellent understaning of the company's business goals and objectives
