eCullet Inc. is a technology-based glass processing company. eCullet is a well-funded and growing start-up based in Oakland, California (San Francisco Bay Area).  The company's internally developed proprietary technology, now in operation at its California production facility, processes the output of single stream collected material to produce high quality, furnace ready, color sorted cullet for use in making new glass containers.

eCullet is now establishing much needed processing facilities across the US to meet glass recycling needs across the US, assist material recovery facilities in reducing their cost of handling glass, increase supply of furnace ready cullet for glass container manufacturers and fiber glass manufacturers while contributing towards a cleaner environment.

Position Overview: 

eCullet has an immediate opening for a Manager of Operations to join our team. This is a great opportunity to join a company operating in the environmental technology domain focused on revolutionizing and developing cutting edge glass recycling processes, with a great chance for the role to grow into a Director or Vice President.

eCullet's proprietary technology processes post-consumer waste glass to produce color sorted, contaminant free, glass cullet, for use by glass container manufacturing companies for the manufacture of new glass containers. Our first of several processing facilities is located in Oakland, California.

The ideal candidate will be a talented and experienced individual who will help define and optimize our current Glass Beneficiation Operations, as well as design and implement the process for future plants. This involves engineering, production process optimization, and testing/implementation of future Glass Beneficiating Operations. In addition, the Manager of Operations will be focused on eCullet's operational needs and take ownership of issues and appropriate solutions from start to finish.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with the engineering team, the Manager of Operations will be responsible for the design, layout, build, staffing, and production of next generation glass sorting system(s) and facilities.

Additional duties and responsibilities include management and direction of eCullet facilities and staff, prospecting and selecting future facility locations (including permitting and approvals), process layout and design, installation, testing, production and quality control.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and innovative team player excited about environmental-related businesses and associated technologies.
  • Previous experience and/or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
    • Design and installation of material processing systems, preferably in the recycling industry
    • Hands-on experience and knowledge of optical sorting systems, preferably related to the glass recycling or similar applications
    • Design, layout and selection of process flow and/or industrial systems
    • Knowledge of the recycling industry including MRF operations, preferably experience with secondary processing operations related to glass beneficiation and/or knowledge of batch and furnace process
    • Management of production operations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other/related business or engineering fields; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • For senior-level candidates, a minimum of 7 years hands-on experience in the glass recycling (or related) industry is required. eCullet will also consider less experience candidates with the right mix of education and industry experience.
  • Proven track record in managing the growth of multiple operations, including profit and loss responsibility.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and computer skills including Microsoft Office, Windows.
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD Inventor preferred.
