Position Overview
BSR is seeking an experienced manager to play a significant role in helping to serve BSR's clients and members in the food and agriculture industry. The manager's primary function will be to share responsibility for developing, managing and executing business advisory services, including agricultural supply chain projects and working groups of companies, governments and NGO's. The Manager should be comfortable in establishing contact with key company leaders, promoting BSR membership and services, and serving as a liaison with selected member companies. The Manager will also contribute to the development and conduct of industry-focused research projects and services
Position Responsibilities
Manage agricultural supply chain projects, including BSR's agricultural water initiative
Build and maintain relationships with BSR member companies, and work with them to identify their CSR opportunities and design and implement CSR policies/programs
Support collaborative efforts among food and agriculture companies, NGOs, government agencies, and other key stakeholder
Analyze industry trends and evolving business practices to determine emerging key issue areas in agriculture sustainability and define better management practices at all levels of the agricultural supply chain
Recruit additional companies to work with BSR to address their CSR issues/needs
Identify and manage outside consultants, and oversee delivery of quality products
Create, oversee, and report on project timelines and budgets
Work closely with other industry teams to identify common CSR issues and develop transferable content expertise as it relates to CSR strategies and practices
Perform other duties as required and assigned by Director, CSR services
Desired Qualifications
At a minimum, the applicant should have:
Advanced degree in agriculture-related field, with focus on business, environment, and/or policy
4-7 years business experience, including consulting and/or field work in an agricultural setting
Demonstrated knowledge of the food and agriculture industry, including thorough understanding of sustainability, best management practices on farms, and commodity production and supply chains
Strong project management skills, including ability to manage multiple projects, estimate and budget time/costs, create work plans, manage and lead project teams, meet deadlines, and delivery high quality projects
Ability to engage with and advise clients at senior management levels
Well-developed leadership, organizational, and people skills, with a demonstrated ability to enhance the skills and effectiveness of other team members
Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral
High ethical standards and a commitment to a diverse work place culture
Willingness to travel up to 25 percent of time
Desirable candidates will also have some combination of the following:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience related to agricultural water systems and issues
Demonstrated expertise in one or more key CSR areas (supply chain management, environment, labor, stakeholder engagement)
Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese highly desired
