Description

Join the Center for Park Management (CPM), a dedicated team within the National Parks Conservation Association, and work on challenging marketing-related consulting and advisory projects for our National Parks and their partners. 

Centered in Washington, DC and with activities throughout the USA and internationally, CPM works to improve the capacity of park managers to manage the resources in their care. The analyst will engage in management projects in parks as well as conduct research and analysis of systemic issues related to protected area management. 

The Analyst will be integrally involved in the roll out of CPM's major program strategies. He/she will be responsible for providing management solutions to park partners using new and existing methodologies. The position will entail travel throughout the USA, and possibly overseas to meet with park partners, both solo and with other CPM staff and consultants. 

Specific Responsibilities 

1. Conducts financial, operational and marketing analysis in support of projects in partner protected areas. Develops in-depth knowledge of the operational practices and procedures of national parks. 

2. Contribute to CPM programs through research into national park policy, management, and operations issues. Develops in-depth understanding of management policies and practices of the National Park Service. Serves as the business expert of 1-2 management areas. Contributes to CPM analysis and reports into systemic park management issues. 

3. Maintains a system to track progress in strategy implementation at partner protected areas. Develops and assists in implementing marketing plans for CPM's major programs. Produces written reports for a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Maintains an active library of CPM methodologies and practices. Develops new methodologies as appropriate and develops training tools to support knowledge sharing amongst CPM team members. Designs standardized work product templates (e.g. presentation formats and report formats) and contributes to the care and updating of CPM's website, in conjunction with other CPM team members and NPCA technical staff. 

4. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. Participates in administrative staff meetings, organization-wide meetings, staff committee meetings, training programs, and attends other meetings and seminars as designated by the supervisor. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. 

Qualifications: 

· Candidates must be committed to the mission and goals of NPCA.
· Demonstrated experience in completing complex projects and managing the needs of diverse stakeholders towards a common vision and goal.
· Holds a bachelor degree and a minimum of 2-3 years work experience in business, economics and/or related field or equivalent practical experience bearing on the issues identified above.
· Superior writing skills and analytical ability.
· A working knowledge of public and private management models, and strategic problem solving in a consulting environment.
· Computer and Internet literacy, including demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word. Database experience useful.
· Individual must be able to work with a wide range and diversity of constituents and must be prepared to travel extensively.

Salary Range: $33,500 - $50,000, based on experience
