The Organic Trade Association (OTA) is the membership-based business association for the organic industry in North America. OTA's mission is to promote and protect organic trade to benefit the environment, farmers, the public, and the economy. OTA envisions organic products becoming a significant part of everyday life, enhancing people's lives and the environment.
Position Overview:
The Organic Trade Association (OTA) seeks to fill the position of Legislative and Advocacy Manager. The Legislative Manager assists the Chief of Policy and Programs and the Executive Director in development of policy strategy through legislative engagement and as an external advocate representing the interests of OTA's mission and its members, and implements OTA's policy strategy through outreach to Congress, legislative analysis and advocacy.
The position will function as a creative member of OTA's Government Relations team, reporting to the Chief of Policy and External Relations. OTA conducts education, outreach and advocacy with key policy makers and the legislative manager will facilitate relationships with key political staff, government officials in the administration and congress, and allied organic groups regarding all aspects of organic agriculture, industry, and the trade. The Legislative Manager will monitor legislative developments and conduct legislative research and analysis to support OTA policy strategy and development.

Qualifications:
Qualified applicants will possess knowledge of organic agriculture, products and standards and a passion for the political; knowledge of the legislative process, 3+ years related work experience. The candidate will possess excellent research, analytical, communications and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated experience in and knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and database skills.
Position is located at OTA's Washington DC office.
