The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 18,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking an experienced and energetic professional to serve as support for staff and the LEED Technical Committee.
Position Overview:
The LEED Technical Committee Liaison serves as the principal staff support and liaison to the LEED technical committees, is primarily responsible for maintaining the committees at a high level of compliance with USGBC policies and procedures, and is the main point of contact for the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) with relation to Credit Interpretation Rulings (CIRs) and other related tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Committee Support
- Provide logistical & administrative support for committees
- Prepare and distribute committee documents, agendas, minutes and correspondence
- Correspond with committee members
- Schedule meetings & conference calls
- Manage committee listservs, rosters, document archives and calendars
- Coordinate internal USGBC staff support of committee related initiatives
- Assist with development of supporting documents & materials
- Perform general administrative duties and special projects as needed
- Serve as staff liaison amongst LEED committees
- Coordinate amongst USGBC departments on committee related projects
- Participate in regular committee conference calls & meetings
- Initiate special technical projects and research tasks as appropriate
- Assist committee technical staff with related work
- Prepare and distribute corresponding committee updates
- Manage committee member appointments, reappointments and elections
- Committee Policy Compliance
- Monitor committee member terms
- Facilitate new committee member orientation
- Manage committee member conflicts of interest
- Monitor committee attendance & USGBC membership
- Manage adherence to USGBC anti-trust policy
- Credit Interpretation Rulings (CIRs) - includes old & new CIR structure
Serve as liaison between USGBC & GBCI for CIR review- Provide administration and maintenance of the online CIR database
- Perform bi-weekly harvesting and distribution of CIRs to review teams
- Monitor outstanding CIRs & manage finalization of rulings
- Coordinate committee review of CIRs
- Provide customer support for project teams with submitted CIRs
- Perform QA/QC for CIR responses
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year relevant professional office experience
- Bachelors degree required, degree in a related building industry or environmental discipline preferred
- Knowledge of consensus principles, committee organization and governance, and non-profit governance principles
- Excellent communications, organization and computer skills (proficiency in MS Office Suite)
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong multitasking abilities
- Proven track record of initiative and ability to self-manage
