Description
Sun Farm Network, one of the largest and most active solar energy companies in the mid-Atlantic region, is growing and we are looking for a full-time Lead Installer to expand our team.
Position Overview:
The Lead Installer is a professional position of leadership within the company. Leads are responsible for managing all aspects of the installation crew, with support from the Field Operations Manager and engineering colleagues, and for working towards key business objectives. This is a field management position with attractive compensation and benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Leading Customer Installations: providing job function expertise, managing the work of field crews, interacting directly with customers, coordinating with subcontractors, and assisting with job planning and results accounting.
- Overall Technical Operations: Ensuring safe and reliable operation of all company vehicles, appropriate warehouse operations (including clean-up, tool management, inventory management, etc), and any other aspects related to enabling effective field operations. Ensure proper planning and preparation for specific projects, including ordering, site preparation, truck provisioning, crew scheduling, etc.
- System Diagnostics and Repair: Testing, diagnosis, and repair of existing systems, including follow-up technical support for newly installed installations.
- Crew Management and Training: direct management of crew employees, including day-to-day coordination, yearly evaluations, and hiring. Take lead responsibility for training and ongoing skill development of field team members.
- Functional Development: Working in collaboration with other members of the company on process improvements, new product development, and ongoing quality and efficiency advancements. Significant working experience with mechanical and electrical assembly relevant to solar PV systems, including both AC and DC electrical systems, on-site construction practices, and crew management.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year direct experience as a Lead Installer as well as at least 3 years direct experience installing solar PV systems. Experience desired in all types of grid-tied inverters, and both roof and ground-mounted systems.
- An understanding of NEC requirements and other relevant regulations, and experience with safety requirements for work of this type.
- Polite with excellent communication and people skills, able to work effectively with direct reports and professional colleagues, and able to represent the company professionally.
- Able to support extensive physical requirements of on-site PV construction, including the ability to lift at least 60 pounds, willing to work in extreme environments (hot sun, high places, and crawl spaces), and a full range of mobility in upper and lower body).
- Must have a valid drivers license, and be willing to work across the state and occasionally in other mid-Atlantic states. Willingness to work occasionally on evenings and weekends, and some overnight travel is required.
