Position Overview 

Phipps seeks a full-time Manager to lead and grow a fee/mission-based landscape design studio rooted in sustainable design and Phipps' mission to demonstrate the important connections between the natural and built environments.

The studio works with internal clients including research and education and collaborates with local universities as well as external clients with an emphasis on healthcare facilities, businesses, community groups and design firms in the Pittsburgh region.

Studio Phipps offers its clients a unique perspective in identifying opportunities to connect humans to nature through biophilic and ecological design. 

Responsibilities  

  • Principal responsibilities include managing a sustainable design and consulting group;
  • Working to develop, review and report on business development strategy, project leads and proposals to generate revenue for Studio Phipps;
  • Networking with local, regional and national companies and organizations to introduce them to Studio Phipps offerings/services; and
  • Providing original landscape designs to internal and external clients while managing other consultant's services and deliverables.  

Qualifications  

  • The ideal candidate understands the interconnection between human and ecological health and wellness and has a passion for finding workable solutions to sustainability challenges;
  • A Registered Landscape Architect is preferred;
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to work within, the frameworks of SITES, LEED, the Living Building Challenge and WELL Building is required; and
  • Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, civil engineering, environmental science or related field is required.
