Ecos has an immediate need in its Durango, CO office for a motivated, capable electronics Laboratory Technician interested in working with a multi-office team on cutting-edge energy efficiency topics including computer power supplies, battery charging products, lighting, and more. This is a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
This position will support Ecos' Policy and Research team by providing lab-based quantitative and analytic skills related to the efficiency of electrical and electronic products. This position will entail substantial independent and self-directed electrical power measurement, instrumentation design, and test procedure development. Primary tasks and duties may include:
- Developing a test bench and test fixtures for measuring a variety of electronic devices
- Assisting Ecos' 80 PLUS® electric utility rebate program (www.80PLUS.org) in the testing and certification of highly efficient desktop computer and server power supplies
- Coordinating the aforementioned desktop/server power supply testing process across a multi-office, multi-functional team
- Analyzing and organizing measured data from various sources, creating compelling visual summaries of key findings
- Working with Excel spreadsheets to manage large data sets
- Communicating measurement results to internal and external clients through written and oral summaries
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should have background related to electronics and related laboratory work experience. Candidates with the following range of qualifications will be considered:
- Bachelor's degree related to engineering or science field (preferably electrical) and at least 1 year of electrical laboratory experience
- Associate's degree related to an engineering or science field (preferably electrical) with at least 3 years of electrical laboratory experience
- Equivalent combinations of education and work experience
Strong communication skills and a track record of working effectively in a team environment are strong plusses.
