Description
The Institute Department of Geology, Sediment- und Isotope-Geology at the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, invites applications for a junior professorship in the field of Sedimentology/ Sedimentary Geochemistry /Paleoceanography.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate is expected to provide evidence that she/he can teach with distinction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and be an effective mentor of graduate students. Teaching in English is encouraged (MSc level), although teaching in German is expected after a reasonable period of time.
The successful candidate must have a doctorate and post doctoral experience in sedimentology, paleoceanography, geochemistry or a closely related field by the date of the appointment.
Job Duties:
The successful candidate will lead and coordinate research efforts focused on sedimentary geochemistry, paleoceanography and application and development of new proxies for past seawater and climate properties. She/he must demonstrate ability to build and maintain a strong, externally funded research program. In support of this, the Department provides an excellent analytical infrastructure.

Employment and Salary:
The successful applicant will be employed for 3+ years starting at the earliest possible date. Payment will be in accordance with the German financial salary level W1.
