~ The Seminole Companies (Seminole) is a group of interrelated financial services entities that began operation in January of 2009, when Seminole Advisory Services (SAS) became the Investment Manager for two existing commingled funds (one debt and one equity) operating within the Real Estate sector. ~ 

Seminole Financial Services, LLC ("SFS") has become a market leader in providing interim and permanent financing for renewable energy transactions, successfully providing capital for 500kW -10MW renewable energy projects that traditionally have had a difficult time procuring financing.

SFS has made a commitment to the renewable energy finance business, allocating time and capital to educate our people and teaming with industry experts in renewable energy finance, tax credits and technology. Since 2009, SFS's Renewable Energy Finance program has closed over 70 transactions totaling more than half a billion dollars in interim and permanent debt financing.  

Position Overview 

This position is responsible for underwriting and managing an investment portfolio consisting of real estate and renewable energy projects across the country. The position entails underwriting new debt and equity investments primarily within the multifamily real estate and solar and wind distributed generation renewable energy spaces, as well as managing the investment in the projects throughout their lifecycle. This position reports directly to an Executive Vice President.

Responsibilities 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Process, analyze and structure complex real estate and renewable energy transactions on a national basis. This includes working with borrowers through all stages of the financing process from assisting with applications, conducting financial analysis, underwriting loans, preparing documentation for loan approval and presenting proposals to loan committee and supporting the drafting of commitment letters and loan documents
  • Identify, decipher and manage internal and external risks of the transaction
  • Negotiate legal documents, transact with attorneys, borrowers and other lenders and equity investors
  • Interact directly with clients, investors, industry professionals and senior management to ensure seamless and high quality service
  • Prepare and present formal credit committee memorandums and/or reports to investors and clients
  • Develop and use knowledge of clients and markets to identify evolving trends, risks and new opportunities. Seek out and propose professional development opportunities for self and other team members to remain abreast of key issues impacting the company 

Qualifications 

Education & Experience: 

  • Education: Accounting or Finance focus; Master's Degree preferred; or Bachelors Degree with minimum 5 years related experience
  • Job Experience: Underwriting, asset management, loan transactions, tax equity and structuring experience beneficial
  • Certification: CPA, CFA, CCIM or similar designations helpful, but not required 

Skills /Qualifications: 

  • Strong analytical ability including financial analysis, understanding of partnership structures and some light tax treatments
  • Thorough understanding of credit analysis, loan structuring and equity partnerships with attention to detail required
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
  • Articulate with the ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to travel (light) to national sites to visit clients, perform site inspections or participate in industry conferences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
