Women's World Banking (WWB) is a leading microfinance organization working in more than 30 countries worldwide to expand the economic power of low-income women and their families by opening their access to financial services and information.

Based in New York City, the WWB global team works hand-in-hand with the WWB network of 51 microfinance and banking partners to help women lift themselves out of poverty by operating small, sustainable businesses.

Position Overview:

WWB will sponsor the microfinance equity fund as furtherance of its mission to expand the outreach of microfinance services to low income entrepreneurs globally. Women's World Banking GP, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stichting To Promote Women's World Banking, will serve as the general partner of the equity fund, which will be a Delaware limited partnership. The IM will be responsible for starting-up and managing all key aspects of the Fund.

Responsibilities:

  • Launch the fund and play an active role in fundraising efforts and investor due diligence and negotiations;
  • Contribute to the development of investment criteria and investment processes;
  • Build the fund's investment portfolio;
  • Work to build investor groups;
  • Oversee the fund's entire investment process , including the work of the second fund investment professional and consultants that may be needed on due diligence work;
  • Serve as the director on the board of several MFI investees to promote the economic growth of the institution as well as protection of its social mission;
  • Monitor investments and contribute to value creation during the holding period;
  • Valuation of MFI investments and returns on an ongoing basis;
  • Develop independent relationships that provide an understanding of local and regulatory environment and institutions;
  • Managing the fund within the allocated cost budget (monitor revenue and costs);
  • Develop and execute attractive exit options for the fund.

Requirements:

  • MA Degree and 7 plus years equivalent experience;
  • International experience required, as well as thorough knowledge of at least one technical area of microfinance or specialized field;
  • Ability to use independent judgment to interpret, plan and execute their work within general guidelines, and coordinate resources to achieve department objectives.
