Help get the community involved in fighting Japanese knotweed. The Johnson Creek Watershed Council in Portland, OR needs your outreach expertise ...

*** March 1, 2006-August 31, 2006; Beginning and ending dates are flexible, though only by two weeks earlier or later.*** 

This member will work closely with another full-time AmeriCorps member to initiate outreach for the assessment, mapping and herbicide treatment of Japaneese Knotweed stands in the Johnson Creek Watershed.

The members will work together to execute extensive outreach efforts targeting creekside landowners to foster awareness, coorperation and participation in the Knotweed Abatement Project. Once the Japanese Knotweed stands have been identified and landowner permission has been obtained, the members will recruit, train and lead a team of volunteers in treating these stands throughout the watershed. 

Benefits include an education scholarship of $1200 and training opportunities.
