Description

~ The Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) was founded in 1972 to protect and restore natural resources in the 22-community watershed. MyRWA accomplishes this work through the efforts of professional staff and thousands of volunteers working together on a project-by-project basis. ~

Our Mission is to protect and restore the Mystic River, its tributaries and watershed lands for the benefit of present and future generations and to celebrate the value, importance and great beauty of these natural resources.

Internship Overview

MyRWA seeks motivated, well-organized and physically strong interns to assist in organizing an effort to remove invasive species from land and water, and to assist in water quality sampling and data management in a number of projects.

We will be removing the invasive vine Oriental bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus) from waterfront parks and water chestnut (Trapa natans) from the Mystic River.

This is an internship that combines being an enthusiastic leader and ambassador for our organization at public group events with outdoor, physically demanding work, including  moving canoes and other gear and getting wet and dirty.

This is a great opportunity to be involved with a small non-profit doing work on behalf of the community and environment. See our website for more about our invasive species removal program and water quality science programs.
