Flooring Alternatives is a pioneer in Green Building material on local (San Francisco Bay Area) and national levels. We are considering expanding our market to include Mexico.

Position Overview: 

This internship position includes researching logistics of import/export (such as identifying potential customs brokers, tariffs, trade requirements for agricultural/wood product); researching demand in Mexico (for wood flooring in general and for green products in particular); competition in wood flooring market in Mexico (in general and for green products in particular); and sources (including within the region, imported to Mexico from USA, or imported to Mexico from other regions).

The result will be a written report and spreadsheet showing costs, feasibility, and profitability of various flooring distribution models for trade with Mexico.

  • Able to take direction and work well on team
  • Self-directed and able to work independently
  • Well organized
  • Excellent research skills
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel and Word

Spanish language skills helpful

Interest in Green building and business encouraged

Business administration skills and/or interest a plus

This is a part-time, unpaid internship (6-8 hours a week) for approx. 3 months. Work will performed offsite with bi-weekly meetings and periodic written progress reports during the internship period.
