Description
Background:
Pesticide Action Network UK (PAN UK) works to eliminate use of and
dependence on hazardous pesticides, while encouraging sustainable and
ecological alternatives.
Duties:
We are seeking to appoint an International Project Officer (IPO) to work in the
international team with responsibility for the programme dealing with disposal
and prevention of obsolete pesticide stockpiles. The post involves working in
close collaboration with our African partners and regular liaison with a PAN
UK-PAN Africa coordinator on disposal activities based in Africa.
IPO will work with other members of the international team and may be asked
on occasions to undertake related project work, to contribute to PAN UK
publications (in particular Pesticides News and Greenfly), and to assist in the
production of outreach material on our website and elsewhere.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a sound background in environmental sciences,
knowledge of pesticides issues, familiarity with development, and ability to
communicate with a wide range of people and institutions.
The job may involve extensive travel.
Although we are only able to offer an
initial nine month contract, we are hopeful that additional funds will be made
available to extend the post.
