Description

Greenstart is a startup accelerator for cleantech. We help the most promising cleantech startups achieve greater success, faster. The companies we select receive seed funding, 3 months of mentoring in our gorgeous downtown San Francisco office, resources to help them go faster, valuable connections, and access to leading angel investors and venture capitalists.

Position Overview:

If you've got passion, smarts, creativity, gritty determination and a boundless desire to see the early-stage cleantech space explode with awesome new companies, this is the place for you.

Internship commitments range from 15-40 hours per week, for 3 months minimum. Small stipends are available. Greenstart's green loft space is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco, at 22 Battery Street (at Market).

What do you get? Exposure to the best young cleantech startups, dynamo mentors, serial entrepreneurs and cleantech industry players. A great letter of recommendation, a thrilling work environment, and the satisfaction of tackling the energy challenge in a tangible way. Did we mention unlimited coffee?

Responsibilities:

Cleantech Policy and Grant Intern (1):

Do you live, breathe, eat and drink government cleantech policy and programs? Be sure to save some room in your tummy for Greenstart, because we need you to devour every relevant cleantech program / grant / resource and digest it for our startups. You'll be in charge of distilling loads of information and making it useful for startup CEO's who will use your expertise to shape their grant proposals. Interest or experience in government grant writing is a must.

Operations & Logistics Intern (1):

Is your middle name "Chuck Norris"? Greenstart needs you to apply a hearty roundhouse kick-to-the-face of whatever challenge is facing our accelerator on a given day. Whether we're hosting a social event, solving an in-house IT issue, or prepping for investor pitch day, you're leaping to tackle the tasks at hand and keep the ship running smoothly.

Startup Recruitment Intern (1-2):

Do you know where the next great cleantech startup is hiding? How about the next 500? Help us find them by leading the charge on our January 2012 program recruitment. Work with leading cleantech venture capital firms, universities, national laboratories, NGO's, and everyone you can think of to rustle up our best dealflow yet. Applications open October 2, so you'll have your work cut out for you.

Partnerships & Resources Intern (1):

Greenstart loves making friends - and we hope you do to. We want to be friends (aka Partners) with all the right companies, universities, government offices, non-profits, venture capital firms and crazy magicians that we can. These partners have countless resources (ranging from machine shop space to professional expertise to free yummy food) that our startups really need. Your job is to go out and secure these partnerships - with a smile. No good friendship only goes one way, so you'll also be in charge of figuring out what our Partners need from Greenstart, and making sure they love us like syrup loves waffles.

Video Intern (1-2):

We know you've been dying to apply your rockstar video skills to the energy challenge - and now there's a way! Film Greenstart's companies and accelerator content; create videos that help startups explain their incredible work, attract investors, and gets the right community excited about Greenstart.

Social Media Intern (1):

The world needs to know about Greenstart and our fabulous entrepreneurs - and you're going to tell them. Apply your skills to startups that lack a social media strategy, help Greenstart amplify its message, and play a creative role in defining Greenstart to the world. Creativity, imagination, and technical know-how are a must.

Graphic Designer Intern (1):

You know that Design (Big D and little d) is more than just a pretty logo - and you're psyched to unleash hella magic from those nimble fingers of yours. Assess the design needs of our companies, and create an exciting scope of work you'll be proud of. You can even tell Grandma you're solving the energy challenge while you're at it! Killer typography, layout, general design skills, and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign are required. Some development/coding (JavaScript, CSS and HTML) is a bonus.

Copywriter Intern (1):

Does your writing snap, crackle and pop? Can you translate technical jargon into a compelling business case? Your help is needed to develop website copy, pitch materials, press releases and even grant proposals. You get to translate the exciting developments of Greenstart and our companies into communication with the broader world. Please send a few diverse writing samples with your resume.

Web Development Intern (1):

In addition to your nunchuck skills, computer-hacking skills, and llama-feeding skills, you've got mad web development skills. You feel comfortable working with UI/X folks to create a great web project plan, and then execute like a pro. Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript are required; Ruby, Python and Adobe Creative Suite are a plus.

UI/UX Intern (1):

User experience is baked into your DNA, and you want to make sure its baked into Greenstart's startups too. Structure, simplicity, visibility, feedback, tolerance and reuse are your middle names (man you had weird parents), and your goal is to ensure the products and digital presence of every Greenstart company reflects these principles. You've built awesome User Interfaces in the past, and you're excited to deploy your skills to a group of hungry startups.

To Apply:

Please send your resume, relevant sample work and a brilliant cover letter. Be sure to specify the specific role you're interested in by writing "Greenstart Internship - ROLE X" in the subject line of your email.

We will interview and place interns on a first-come basis. All interns must be able to work out of our SF offices 15 hours / week minimum.

Internship start date is Monday, Sept. 12.
