Internship Opportunities at J. Ottman Consulting
Background:
J. Ottman Consulting is a strategic marketing consultancy dedicated exclusively to environmental business initiatives. Clients include Fortune 500 companies and the U.S. EPA. Two interns per semester, summer and January terms gain direct access to pioneering work in "eco-innovation"an approach to radical rethinking of product and business developmentas well as "green marketing" strategies for products and services that have an environmental advantage.
Duties:
We are currently seeking interns with research, writing and web-technical skills for projects including:
- Helping to research cases for an exciting new book featuring pioneering strategies for greener business, presented in a creative, engaging, multi-media format;
- Working on the development of a breakthrough interactive, web-based tool that allows companies to explore new business opportunities related to green product design and marketing;
- Hands-on design and development of our website and partner website projects.
Qualifications:
Interns are typically upper-level undergraduates, graduate students, or recent grads in the liberal arts, business and marketing, and design. The internship has flexible, part-time hours, but we ask for a minimum commitment of ten hours per week during fall and spring semesters, and two to three days a week in the summer. We recommend a full-time commitment during January-only internships.
Students with prior work experience and a demonstrated interest in the environment are given preference. Mac skills are a plus; web design and development skills are greatly appreciated.

* What type of projects do interns work on?
Interns choose the project(s) to work on to match their skills, abilities and passions. Most internships include some research of green products and designs in the marketplace, writing case studies, or helping to design and implement ways of communicating our content in various electronic media.
* What do interns earn?
All interns receive a modest honorarium intended to help cover expenses for commuting and lunches.
* How many hours are interns expected to work?
Participation can be very flexible as long as there is a real commitment from you. Priority is logically given to people willing to get involved. The minimum of hours requested is ten per week during the semester, and two to three days during the summer.
* Who is eligible?
Any motivated student with an interest in marketing, business, and the environment. Prior work experience is preferred.
