The Rainforest Alliance (RA) is an international nonprofit organization that works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. Based in New York City, with offices throughout the United States and worldwide, the Rainforest Alliance works with people whose livelihoods depend on the land, helping them transform the way they grow food, harvest wood and host travelers.
Position Overview:
The Institutional Giving Associate will support the Associate Director in the research, administrative, editing, and writing tasks associated with a portfolio of donors and funding prospects in Latin America, including national government agencies, Latin American corporations, local foundations, and possibly individuals. The Associate will support the Associate Director in working with and training regional field staff on fundraising from local donors in Latin America, and will also assist the entire Institutional Giving team with additional administrative duties related to foundation, corporate and government grant fundraising.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct web and print research to find new donor prospects or respond to new opportunities identified by regional field staff;
- Assist with the scheduling of meetings via phone and email, and assist with writing donor profiles and assembling informational packets;
- Help to coordinate follow up activities from meetings;
- Adapt and edit Spanish and English language proposals, letters, and concept papers to donors;
- Proofread reports to donors;
- Assist with logistics and coordination of donor visits to Latin American field operations;
- Assist Major Gifts Manager with research on prospective individual donors who might be based in Latin America;
- Assist the Institutional Giving team with additional administrative duties, such as database management, filing, tracking proposals, writing thank you letters, and assembling paperwork for government grant applications;
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required;
- Spanish and English fluency required;
- 3-5 years of experience;
- Must have excellent writing skills in both English and Spanish;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
- Knowledge of international environment and/or community development issues preferred;
- Must be detail oriented, resourceful, and able to work under tight deadlines, follow directions and work independently.
