Description
~ Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) is an entrepreneurial nonprofit
working on environmental solutions at the intersection of renewable energy and
freshwater. ~

Our team of under 20 people comprises
four departments: the Renewable Energy Group (which includes the Solar 4R
Schools team); the Watersheds Group (which includes the Change the Course
team); the Operations Group; and the Business Development Group. The Business
Development Group includes the CEO, CDO, the Director of Corporate
Partnerships, and two independent contractors.
Scope of
Position
The Inside
Sales Rep (ISR) is a collaborative member of the BEF business development
team and is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and upselling BEF’s hundreds
of REC, offset and WRC customers. The ISR develops relationships with potential
customers, and provides critical operational support to ensure success for other
business development team members. The ISR
represents
the quality and consistency of BEF’s brand to both prospective customers and
secured accounts.
Success in this position is measured by
meeting financial goals through contract renewals and new business, retaining
accounts by providing outstanding customer service and value, and cultivating and
maintaining long-term, trusted customer relationships.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position has experience building long-term trusted customer relationships and has B2B sales experience. Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Maintain and
expand existing commodity (REC, offset, WRC) client relationships. - Ensure customer loyalty through excellent customer service,
timely communication and follow through – comfortable leading / directing
customer service strategy – develop and execute customer service plan including
ideal ERP / CRM management. - Maintain
accounts with BEF’s NetSuite ERP, including measuring pipeline, activity
tracking, contract management and product delivery. - Contribute
to meeting quarterly and annual revenue targets set for the Business
Development Group. - Prepare professional
and accurate presentations, proposals and sales contracts. - Develop,
prepare, and manage lists and outreach strategies to identify new leads
and prospects. Follow up on warm leads, tap into and grow a network. - Follow up
on incoming and cultivated leads and prospects. - Manage
BEF’s online customer product delivery and customer service. - Support business development team in managing complex and
varying sales cycles from initial outreach through contract completion and
product delivery, ensuring accuracy in communication and documentation
throughout the process. - Work with
CFO / VP of Operations on quarterly commodity (REC, offset, WRC) forecast;
generating quarterly sales report; and advising on customer preferences
for REC and offset supply options. - Proactively
contribute to continuous improvement, providing input on products,
marketing strategies, sales improvements and team collaboration. - Maintain
working knowledge of industry standards (FTC Green Guides; Center for
Resource Solutions Green-e programs; etc.) to help ensure BEF is in
compliance. - Maintain
working knowledge of how to calculate environmental impacts associated
with energy use, greenhouse gas emissions and water use. - Work cross-functionally, collaborating with various internal
partners to ensure service excellence. - Identify
speaking and presentation opportunities at seminars, trade shows, or other
events. Prepare proposals, presentations, and recaps of event activities. - Provide
marketing and/or customer retention support (such as contributing to newsletter
content or assistance with content development or distribution). - Work in
partnership with management and program directors to identify new target
markets and industry verticals, while maximizing existing customer
relationships and/or grants. - Actively listen to and engage prospects, identify needs and
goals, provide education and match the BEF product or service that best meets
the customer need or goal. - Present
and sell BEF’s suite of solutions to current and new potential clients as
an authority on BEF’s capabilities while also supporting the business
development team in doing the same. - Perform
other duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or an environmental / sustainability-related field and a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.
- Knowledge or understanding of emerging environmental commodity markets such as Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) and Carbon Offsets and Water Restoration Certificates® (WRCs).
- Familiarity with corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability industry trends, industry competitors, sustainability marketing and communications.
- Experience in promoting environmental sustainability and / or CSR solutions to a business audience.
- Ability to think strategically and work independently, at times under pressure.
- Excellent customer service skills; customer service oriented.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing contexts and business conditions, including the ability to think on your feet and communicate in a professional demeanor.
- Strong research skills with proven ability to identify sales opportunities.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate the value of a strategic relationship between BEF and its customers; strong ability to craft customized presentations and proposals.
- Strong command of PowerPoint, Word and Excel, including experience using ERP and CRM systems.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.
- Excellent communication, networking and relationship building skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
