Co-op America's Technology Department is responsible for development, administration, production, and support in three primary areas: Web and email systems, membership systems, and network/computer/communications systems. 

Co-op America seeks a Information Technology Director to manage our IT and Web development operations. This person will have significant experience in management of technology projects and teams. S/he will work with the team and the Chief Business Officer to develop clear technology performance standards and create and implement strategies for meeting those standards. We are seeking a leader with the technical and people skills to lead a small but highly skilled team in a dynamic work environment. The team consists of a database administrator and applications developer, a web developer, and an IT manager. 

We are seeking an individual who can shape our technology strategy in close coordination with the department and Chief Business Officer to accommodate the anticipated growth of the organization. Qualified candidates should have excellent communication skills at the departmental and organizational levels and strong management skills to ensure on-time delivery of development projects, professional delivery and administration of ongoing operations, and smooth coordination with outside contractors.

Responsibilities 

I. Departmental Management 

* Hire, train and manage program staff. Ensure that technical staff had required core skills and receive appropriate technical training as needed.
* Lead departmental planning and budgeting as part of Co-op America's annual Operating Plan process, including development of a comprehensive annual workplan, program operating plan, and project timeline.
* Ensure timely Team member performance reviews according to Co-op America's established peer review process.
* Lead department in developing standards, systems, procedures, and practices to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects and services.
* Work with department staff and CBO to identify strategic issues and efficiency opportunities for Co-op America in new technology.
* Take initiative to investigate, develop and implement new technical solutions as needed.
* Convene and lead regular departmental meetings as needed.
* Manage partner and contractor relationships, including contracting and coordination of deliverables as needed. 

II. Project Management 

* Create and manage budgets for major departmental projects. Ensure that budgets meet projections.
* Create and manage timelines for major departmental projects. Ensure that deadlines are met.
* Troubleshoot staffing and project workflow and timing issues and proactively address as needed. 

III. Communications 

* Ensure clear and frequent communications between the Technology Department and other departments, teams, and staff at Co-op America.
* Proactively communicate about system problems that affect teams or staff and technology-related concerns as they emerge in staff discussions. 

IV. Systems Management 

* Develop and roll out new strategies and procedures to ensure optimal operation of IT, membership, and online systems.
* Ensure rapid responses to system outages and problems affect staff and users of our Internet services.
* Work with team members and contractors to devise clear standards and systems architectures.
* Ensure adequate documentation of systems and establish documentation standards as needed. 

V. Technical Duties: 

* Lead requirements processes for special systems implementation and development projects.
* Provide trouble-shooting and problem-solving support and guidance to department staff as needed.
* Do direct technical troubleshooting as needed to bring systems back to optimal operating status.
* Act as lead administrator of specific software solutions (currently including Salesforce and ListManager). 

Additional Responsibilities 

* Serve on additional staff teams as needed.
* Advise Publications staff on issues involved in electronic publishing and making Co-op America publications available through email and the Web.
* Advise membership staff in issues related to mail and email production, personalization, and distribution as needed to support their cost-reduction and membership scalability goals.
* Coordinate with other departments as needed, such as Finance and Accounting, on systems integration needs. 

Major System Technologies 

* Network/Operating: Microsoft Production Servers
* Database: Microsoft SQL Server
* Web Application Development: Adobe ColdFusion
* Web Site Content Management: Adobe Dreamweaver and Contribute
* Membership/Fundraising Management: Millennium (Sage Software) 

Requirements 

* Three to five years solid experience in managing technology-focused teams and projects, plus 5-10 years experience doing technical work of this nature.
* Broad experience, including network/Internet technology, Web development and production, list servs, and database application development.
* Strong interpersonal and organization-level communications skills, including the ability to communication technology strategy to senior management.
* Proven ability to manage to business goals and deliver on quality, cost, and timing requirements.
* Ability to work with a team in a fast paced environment
* Ability to lead a team with vision and inspiration.
* Experience working as a program manager or team leader
* Excellent program planning and execution skills. Ability to get work done on time.
* Familiarity with major system technologies listed above. The ideal candidate has a broad range of technical expertise to supplement the more specialized knowledge of team members.
* Application development experience, ColdFusion a plus.
* Ability to quickly understand, administer, and trouble-shoot new systems and applications.

Details: Director Hours: Full Time, 4-day work week; Compensation: $45,000-55,000 DOE; Excellent benefits Supervisor: Chief Business Officer/Director of Administration
