Description
SunOpta has three business segments focused on a healthy products portfolio that promotes environmental responsibility and the health and well-being of its communities.
Position Overview:
- This position requires experience with industrial ingredients sales.
- Under limited supervision, performs sales and marketing activities in the organic industrial ingredient sales arena.
- Develops sales forecast.
- Attends tradeshows, and travels to current and prospective new customers.
- Identifies potential sources of new business.
- Sells product to meet or exceed sales quota.
- Interfaces with project leaders to help determine what ingredients to produce and in what volumes within seasonal parameters.
- Interfaces with our Private Label business to coordinate inventory available to sell to industrial customers while also keeping product in stock for Private Label production.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in development of strategic marketing plan for fruit and vegetable based ingredients as well as determine what new categories of ingredients company is to develop.
- Develop and implement annual sales and expense plan with budget in concert with strategic plan.
- Monitor actual performance vs. budget; adjust plan as needed to reach or exceed profitability goals.
- Coordination with sales support staff, project leaders, brokers, and company President to directly oversee management of in house account relationships and outside broker related accounts.
- Travels to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders and talks with customers by phone.
- Quotes prices and credit terms within agreed upon parameters and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
Coordinate sales activities with private label sales. - Coordinates with Accounting and Accounts Receivable problems for customers.
- Prepares reports of business transactions and submits reports weekly.
- Coordination of weekly sales meeting and open order review.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Actively involved in the identification and development of new product concepts, new business opportunities and helps develop and oversee strategies for entry into new markets.
- Monitor competitive products and companies; recommend changes in strategy where warranted.
- Maintain awareness of new trends in the natural and organic food industry.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
- Attend various trade shows as assigned
Qualifications:
- Proven knowledge of industrial food ingredient sales.
- Negotiation capabilities and a deal closer.
- Self-starter.
- Well organized.
- Presentation skills with ability to train others.
- Computer proficient in Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
- Sales forecasting, budgeting and expense management.
- Team builder and team participation skills.
- People management and supervisory skills/experience.
- Broker management experience.
- Excellent verbal communication, customer service, organizational skills.
- Significant travel, when necessary.
- Associations with key industry people.
