Description
Duties:
Primary responsibility for operation and maintenance of nine
stream gages in Trinity River Basin of northern California.
- Also assists in design and implemention of
interdisciplinary studies relating to rehabilitation and
management of riverine habitat within the Klamath-Trinity
watershed. - Implements day-to-day operation of streamflow gages
on Trinity River mainstem and tributaries. - Collects streamflow
data, maintains gage sites and associated equipment, analyzes
streamflow records, prepares gage records for publication by
USGS. - Keeps accurate technical records.
- Assists technician staff
with training in and use of appropriate techniques to estimate
parameters of hydrology, alluvial processes and river ecology. -
Coordinates studies and analyses with tribal, state and federal
agencies. - Organizes data in written form for reports, contract
obligations or for appropriate journals Manages staff and
budgets.
Qualifications:
- Must
have knowledge of field and office techniques associated with
hydrography. - US or Canadian Citizen and B.S. Degree with major study in
Hydrology, Geology, or closely-related field; and three years'
experience in hydrography and/or hydrology. - An M.S. degree in
appropriate disciplines (with hydrology, hydrography course
work) may be substituted for two years' experience. - Salary: Pay commensurate to GS 9-10 (in 2003, $35,000 to
$50,000/Yr.) Depending on Experience, plus benefits.
