The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 9,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking an energetic and detail-oriented administrative professional to serve as an Assistant for the Human Resources department. 

The Human Resources Assistant will serve to free-up the time of managers and enhance the work of the department by handling a range of administrative tasks and support duties, specifically in the areas of HR, Technology, Finance and Administration. This individual must show extreme discretion in the handling of confidential information. 

The position could create a career path in either HR or Accounting, depending on the successful candidate's skills and interest. 

Specific Responsibilities Include: 

  • Filing 
  • Drafting of correspondence 
  • Processing of benefit enrollments and terminations 
  • Coding of invoices 
  • Creation and processing of expense reports 
  • Preparation, copying and destruction of documents 
  • Scheduling of appointments and meetings 
  • Arrange travel 
  • Posting of job advertisements 
  • Maintenance of information 
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Minimum 2 years experience in an office administrative capacity 
  • Associate's degree or equivalent 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information 
  • Ability to work with efficiency and accuracy 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Strong computer skills with fluency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and experience working with relational databases (experience with SAP preferred). 
  • Knowledge of html coding preferred 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and successfully manage competing priorities 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Highly dependable with excellent organizational and time management skills 
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills 
  • Commitment to USGBC mission

Salary low to mid $30K's and includes excellent benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid premiums on healthcare and employer-matching 401(k) program.
