Description

Beautifully situated in a rural area near the Connecticut River, Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site is the 150-acre home and studios of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, American sculptor.

Assist with the grounds maintenance for Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site icluding: rehabilitation and maintenance of historic hedges; removal and transplanting trees, as well as pruning to maintain historic appearance; weeding and watering historic perennial beds; mowing of lawns, fertilizing, and raking leaves; removal of exotic vegetation to ensure maintain the historic appearance and vistas enjoyed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. You may also provide interpretive programs to park visitors related to the garden and grounds.

Required:

Valid driver's license; ability to perform grounds-related maintenance tasks that require a moderate amount of physical effort including frequency lifting, pulling, pushing, loading, shoveling, and bending to handle, place and transport materials; ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.

Desired: Currently enrolled in or have successfully completed a full 2 or 4 year course of study leading to a degree with major coursework in any combination of courses such as horticulture, landscape architecture, and botany.

Dates: ASAP-November 30, 2007
