ecobeco is a "green" company that advises consumers on a whole home approach to saving energy and improving comfort in the home. ecobeco provides Home Energy Audits and Quick Home Energy Check-ups to home owners in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. We've won the Maryland Energy Administration Contractor of the Year Award, the Pepco Home Energy Savings Award, and the Angie's List Super Service Award.

We focus on: 1) ways to save money on utility bills by reducing energy and water use; 2) ways to improve the comfort of the interior environment by focusing on temperature, humidity, and the quality of air and water inside the home; and 3) ways to reduce the customer's environmental impact. ecobeco turns this advice into action by providing the products and services customers need to change their homes and their habits. 

Position Overview:

We are looking for several entry level Energy Auditor Assistants to start immediately.

Assistants will be paired with one of our BPI Certified Energy Auditors. You will help implement home energy audits and quick home energy check-ups. For example, you will set up and break down auditing equipment used to perform the energy audit. For audits and QHECs, you will install energy-saving measures into customers' homes such as CFL lighting, low-flow showerheads, water heater wrap, and more.

Successful candidates will be considered for future opportunities in mentorship for Energy Auditor positions.  

Qualifications: 

Job Requirements:

  • Transportation: You must have a valid driver's license and provide your own transportation. We will provide a transportation reimbursement. You will travel to customer locations with your auditor.
  • Mobility: During the home visit, you may be expected to visit many interior rooms and the attic to obtain a full visual inspection of the home, which may include climbing ladders and/or stairs. You will NOT need to go on roofs.
  • Physical strength and dexterity: You will need to carry approximately 40 pounds of equipment from the auditor's car to the household. You will need dexterity and coordination to properly set up and break down equipment.
  • Care: You will install CFLs, shower heads, water heater insulation, and more. You need to take care to install these items without breaking them, and to uninstall the customer's existing light bulbs, shower heads, etc. without breaking them. You will use basic tools like a wrench or screwdriver to accomplish these tasks.
  • Availability: To work 8-10 hours days 4 days a week. Saturdays may be required on a rotational basis. 

Qualifications:

  • You have passion for the environment.
  • Great listening skills and ability to follow directions are key.
  • You've got a positive attitude & you're punctual.
  • You're handy around the house.
  • You will need to pass a criminal background check that is required by Pepco before you can enter a customer's home. No felonies allowed. No violent misdemeanors allowed.

Compensation: This is an entry-level position that includes health care benefits. Wage is $15/hour and is overtime-eligible.

Exceptional assistants may be offered opportunities to advance to be fully certified Home Energy Auditors depending on company needs at a future time.
