Position Overview 

Due to the on-going growth and success, we are looking to recruit the Head of Energy Assessment (North America) into our existing team of talented Analysts and Engineers. We are offering the exciting opportunity to be part of this industry leading international technical team. 

We work on a diverse range of interesting and challenging projects using state-of-the-art tools and methodologies that are recognised at Credit Committee levels by Banks and Financial Institutions in the USA and Europe.

The role is based from our office in Saratoga Springs, however for the right applicant, we would consider other locations. The Opportunity

Responsibilities:  

  • Working as part of the global analysis team, you will be responsible for the project management and delivery of a wide range of technical services predominantly in the wind sector. 
  • You will be providing analysis services to projects at all stages of their life-cycle and the tasks associated with this role will provide a varied and challenging workload ranging from: layout design; amenity assessments (noise and visual impact); anemometry campaign design and management; resource modeling; energy yield assessment; site classification and turbine selection; and technical due diligence. 
  • Our multi-disciplinary approach to wind farm development provides a unique opportunity to interact with other functions within Natural Power and learn from experienced resource across all departments.
  • We invest heavily in new product and service development and in your role you will also be involved in the continued development of our tools and methods.  As part of this you will have the opportunity to work closely with analysts and colleagues across our international offices.
  • You will be given the opportunity to interact with clients at all levels from initial scoping and project deliverables, through to business development and everything in between. Due to our international service provision we have a long standing and secure pipeline of work.  We offer a collaborative environment with the right level of support and guidance to succeed.  

Qualifications and Experience 

  • You will be degree qualified in an engineering or scientific discipline with a particular focus on fluid dynamics, engineering, mathematics or meteorology.  Ideally this will be complimented with a Masters or Post Graduate qualification. 
  • Further to academic qualifications, it is essential that you have a minimum of five years' experience of providing technical Wind Analysis services (on- and offshore projects; pre and post construction), working for a similar Consultancy or Developer within the North American market. 
  • You must have an excellent understanding of the North American renewable energy markets; with a proven track record in a client facing role.  Further to this, you will be experienced in managing this pipeline to ensure workload is delivered on time and to budget. 
  • Experience in the following areas would be a distinct advantage: resource modeling in thermal and cold climates; assessment of complex flows with CFD; and knowledge of remote sensing technologies (both sodar and lidar).
  • The role demands that you have excellent IT skills, being competent with packages such as WAsP/MS Micro and WindFarmer/WindFarm and in addition to this, you will be capable of learning new bespoke packages and technology at short notice. Matlab, SQL, Python or other programming skills would be highly advantageous. 
  • You must have excellent communication skills, being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format.  In addition to this, you will have first-rate interpersonal skills being capable of building relationships with clients, staff and third parties alike. You will be highly motivated and committed with excellent time management skills, being capable of managing and prioritising your own challenging and often conflicting workload.  You will be analytical and meticulous by nature, with an ability to solve problems in an innovative manner while paying very close attention to detail. 
  • Due to the nature of the role, a driver's license is essential.
