The Alliance to Save Energy seeks a part-time, hourly Local Project Leader to implement the Green Schools Program in approximately 10 K-12 schools in the Corona/Norco, CA areas in Southern CA.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, the nonprofit Alliance to Save Energy promotes energy efficiency worldwide to achieve a healthier economy, a cleaner environment, and greater energy security.
The Green Schools Program is a nationally recognized, comprehensive program for K-12 schools that uses energy-based lessons correlated to state standards to enhance project-based, real-world learning, encourage energy-conserving habits, save school districts money on energy costs, and expose students to green careers.
Position Overview:
The Local Project Leader will work closely with a core school team of teachers, administrators, custodians, and students to integrate energy efficiency into their classroom learning, carry out energy-savings projects at school, and take the energy-efficiency message home and into the community.
Responsibilities:
Specific Local Project Leaders duties include:
- Work with Alliance staff to plan and coordinate Green Schools activities
o Responsible for coordinating activities and meeting program deliverables at approximately 10 schools
o Coordinate monthly in-person school visits with teams to provide additional resources and/or troubleshoot challenges
o Train students and teams to use program resources, including a diagnostic tool kit and a guide with lesson plans and activities
o Work with teams of teachers, administrators, custodians, and students to carry out their energy savings plan
o Assist teams in identifying energy saving opportunities at their school sites - Coordinate and facilitate district-wide meetings
o September: All-day professional development workshop for school teams
o January/February: Mid-Year meeting to convene all school teams
o May/June: End-of-Year Celebration to reward students, teachers, custodians, and schools for their work during the school year - Obtain and track program metrics
- Provide monthly activity reports
- Utilize program resources: Student Energy Audit Training course (middle/high schools), Energy Hog assemblies (elementary), and Alliance for Climate Education assemblies (high schools)
- Other activities as opportunities develop throughout the program
Qualifications:
Candidates must have excellent organizational skills and meeting facilitation experience, as well as strong written and oral communication skills. The ideal candidate must be reliable and dependable, should be a self starter, and demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as closely with a team.
Candidates with a background in education, teaching, and knowledge of energy efficiency are a plus. Candidates must have their own vehicle. Mileage will be compensated based on the current federal mileage rate. Applicants willing to commit to a minimum 1-2 year tenure will be given priority.
Compensation: Compensation is commensurate with experience. Hours are 25 hours per week on average.
