Greenhome.com is an environmental website based in San Francisco.  Green Home is a nationally-recognized website helping Americans green their homes, and one of the leading online retailers creating a market for environmental products. 

Position Overview: 

Green Home seeks Green Products Manager to manage entire product supply chain. This job involves everything from sourcing to screening to posting the products on our website. Also heavy contact suppliers on one end and customers on the other.

This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody passionate about green products and making people aware of them. The right person for this position has extensive retail experience, is great at merchandising, and is highly computer literate and technical, with a serious eye for detail. Not only that, they can write!

Responsibilities:

  • Keep up with all the hot new green products and get them on our website (sourcing)
  • Identify eco-attributes and obtain proof (screening)
  • Communicate qualities (features and benefits) of products (merchandising)
  • Manage the products on the website, including pricing updates and keeping inventory current
  • Oversee interns to create reports on product and shipping profit / loss
  • Help grow our accounts receivable customer base and track aging and cash applications
  • Post pictures of products along with relevant in-depth eco-info (SSL, FTP, etc.)
  • Work with our network of suppliers to maintain the best possible deals
  • Help produce our weekly "Green Home Specials" newsletter featuring great deals

Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate is excited about working in a green (eco-friendly) start-up atmosphere, and welcomes the associated opportunities. She or he is extremely professional, energetic, and has a positive, can-do attitude. S/he will demonstrate flexibility and a strong ability to multi-task across a variety of duties while paying close attention to detail and remaining organized.

The candidate may manage a team of approximately 2 to 5 interns and/or employees, and so must have the ability to delegate and assess progress of team members. The ideal candidate will be required to prioritize her/his responsibilities and balance time-sensitive projects with day-to-day activities and the needs of the company.

  • Extensive Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, HTML and Photoshop experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills
  • Strong understanding of green products and product certification
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Great deal making skills and experience at negotiating
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of "triple bottom line" and "cooperatition" models of green business
  • Energetic self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Willingness to assume responsibility for project completion
  • Excellent phone skills, professionalism, and judgment in handling requests and making decisions
  • Proactive and resourceful with the ability to think ahead and act independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Compensation: We offer a starting salary in the $15 - 20 / hr. range, which is typically below the skill level for such a position. However, to the correct candidate we also potentially offer profit-sharing, bonuses, and equity in the company.
