Description
A full-time (35 hrs/wk) position, one year term, with the Harvard Green Campus Initiative (HGCI) to assist the HGCI in implementing its Graduate Green Living Programs (~21 hrs/wk) and the Longwood Green Campus Initiative (Harvard Medical School, School of Public Health, and School of Dental Medicine) (~14 hours/week).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the Green Living Program at Harvard Law School to ensure effective continuity and advancement of basic program goals such as reduced energy and water consumption and increased recycling.
- Assist with a variety of communications tasks such as development, distribution and maintenance of promotional materials/displays, website pages, newsletters, e-mails, and background materials/information for conservation campaigns.
- Assist all Green Living Programs through a variety of administrative tasks, including: gathering and recording timesheets, preparing materials for meetings, organizing binders and files, taking meeting notes, updating website content and other tasks as requested.
- Assist with implementing large scale behavior change campaigns on the Longwood Campus in the lab and office environment (e.g recycling, computer energy reduction, "shut the sash" on fume hoods, etc.)
- Assist with researching and designing energy reduction and resource conservation outreach materials focused on lab and office environments. e.g. "green tips" of the month, lab energy conservation hand-outs, website updates, etc.
- Assist with collecting and compiling data for a Longwood Campus Sustainability Report Card.
- Research and write-up case studies on innovative practices on the Longwood campus.
- Assist Program Manager with other day-to-day Program Development activities as needed.
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
- Related BA/BS required.
- Prefer 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, communications and marketing skills essential.
- Proven organizational skills and attention to detail needed.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential.
- Ability to work as a team member and independently.
- High degree of flexibility, adaptability and general ability to respond to emerging opportunities and barriers in a constantly changing environment.
- Experience working with student initiatives preferred.
- Must be creative, enthusiastic, and entrepreneurial with a high level of energy and initiative.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint is required.
- Proficiency in Photoshop and PageMaker is a plus.
- An ability to learn Harvard systems and web software quickly is a requirement.
Some evening work will be necessary, likely Monday or Tuesday evenings.
